Our ophthalmologists, Gerard E. Ardron M.D. and Perry A. Haugen, M.D. are board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and highly experienced in providing diagnostic and treatment services covering the spectrum of eye care from minor medical conditions to the most complex eye surgeries.

Gerard E. Ardron, M.D., is a board certified ophthalmologist, and is president and co-owner of Donaldson Eye Care and Sonora Eye Surgery Center. He specializes in medical and surgical ophthalmology for adults and children, refractive surgery, and reconstructive and cosmetic surgery of the eyes and related structures.
He graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 1988 where he was president and valedictorian of his graduating class. He served his residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center. He completed an additional year of specialty training in eye trauma at Riverside County Hospital. From 1993 to 1997, he served at Keesler Medical Center, Keesler Air Force Base, and was chief of ophthalmology from 1995 to 1997.
Dr. Ardron has been with Donaldson Eye Care since 1997 and has performed thousands of eye surgery procedures. He is a recipient of numerous awards including the Upjohn Achievement Award for Academic and Professional Excellence. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and the National Board of Medical Examiners, fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the California Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Perry A. Haugen, M.D., is a board certified ophthalmologist and co-owner of Donaldson Eye Care and Sonora Eye Surgery Center. He specializes in medical and surgical ophthalmology for adults and children, refractive surgery, and reconstructive and cosmetic surgery of the eyes and related structures. He is a 1988 graduate of Loma Linda University School of Medicine where he graduated among the very top of his class and received both the Virginia Schuman award for Excellence and the Upjohn Achievement Award for Academic Excellence. He served his residency at the University of Louisville, Kentucky.
Dr. Haugen has been with Donaldson Eye Care since 2000 and has performed thousands of eye surgery procedures. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology, diplomate of the National Board of Medical Examiners, fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the California Academy of Eye Physicians and Surgeons, and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

Arthur N. Donaldson, M.D., the founder of Donaldson Eye Care, retired in 2003 after nearly 26 years of service to the residents of Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties.
